39 year old Faustino Salinas of Danube has been charged with threatening to kill a family member with a knife. Salinas has two past convictions for violating a restraining order and an order for protection. He’s also allegedly threatened to kill family member,rand himself in the past. The most recent incident happened in June. He currently is free on bail with a court date coming up in September.

A one vehicle crash injured 16 year old Cameron Hempel of Hutchinson yesterday morning. The accident happened just after 6am on Renville county road 24. He was taken to the hospital in Hutchinson with non-life threatening injuries. An accident involving 4 vehicles happened yesterday around 12:40pm at highway 7 & 17th st. in Montevideo. A vehicle ran a red light and hit 3 other vehicles. The driver, a man from Argyle, ran the light and hit the other vehicles, all with drivers from Montevideo. No other info was made immediately available.

The Mill Pond Mile, a family fun run, will be held Saturday in New London. This is the 19th annual event and has now awarded $46,500.00 in scholarships. The first Cody Berg Memorial Scholarship was awarded in 2007. Kids in the run get a T-shirt, Visor, ear buds, and entries in other prize drawings. 31 year old Jared Radermacher of Franklin, who pleaded guilty in April to dangerous discharge of a weapon, was put on 5 years supervised probation yesterday. He was sentenced on a felony charge of firing guns, and on striking a vehicle while a driver was sitting inside. The incident happened in Renville County last March. Radermacher will also pay fines and fees of nearly $500.00 .. Jury selection was to begin yesterday in the overdose death case for the trial of Richard Houske, but the defense attorney asked for a change of venue, with was not granted by the judge. Houske will be on trial in the death of John Schlegel of Blomkest. The trial is now scheduled November 13th in Willmar. Litchfield police arrested a 52 year old Darwin man for 4th degree controlled substance sales and possession, driving after revocation and a number of other charges last Saturday in Litchfield. The man is being held in the Meeker County Jail. As part of its mission to make farming more productive and sustainable through soil health, the Soil Health Partnership is holding a field day in Buffalo Lake for an up-close look at cover crop strategies.
