An accident yesterday afternoon around 4:00 seriously injured two people. A farm truck driven by 63 year old Gerard Schreiner from Blomkest collided with a pickup driven by a 43 year old Matt Thein of New London. The accident happened at the intersection of 30th St. SE and 165th AVE. SE near Roseland. Both drivers were airlifted from the scene.

Some county parks in Renville County remain closed due to issues from heavy rain and flooding. Mack Lake Park and Lake Anderson park are closed with the others are open.

The University of Minnesota is honoring the Pierce family of rural Belgrade as the 2018 farm family of the year. The farm started in 1873 by the great-grandfather of brothers Howard and Ronald Pierce. The farm has been in operation since that time, raising corn, soybeans and sugar beets along with some cattle. The family will be recognized Thursday August 9th at the annual Farm Fest near Redwood Falls. Farm Fest info can be found on line.

An accident a miles & a half south of Cold Spring on County road two damaged 3 vehicles. 16 year old Jonah Olson of Cold Spring was waiting to make a left hand turn when he was rear ended by an SUV driven by 55 year old Emily Schmidt of Eden Valley. Schmidt had been rear ended by 20 year old Mike Vossen of Watkins. Vossen and Schmidt suffered minor injuries.

According to the State Patrol, an accident between Granite Falls and Montevideo happened yesterday morning. The driver of a pickup did not see a semi rig stopped in a one way traffic area of a construction zone. The pickup had 2 passengers in it. The semi drivers was from South Dakota.
