According to the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of commerce, Kandiyohi County has been selected by First Children’s Finance, to participate in the Rural Child Care Innovation Program. This community engagement process is designed to develop right-sized solutions to address the needs of child care and early education for town and counties that are participating. Those who received a survey should have it filled out, with this Friday being  the deadline. The Chamber reminds you that they will be having a community conversation on November 29th concerning child care challenges from 6-8 pm. Contact the chamber for more information on this event.

Give to the max day, presented by Givemn, is coming up on Thursday. A number of area projects will be supported, including the Little Theatre in downtown New London. Recent improvements to the Theatre include LED stage lights, a full size screen and rear projector for movies and videos, and enhancing productions and concerts. And the theatre will be replacing the stationary seating with flexible seating so the facility can be used for dinner theatre and a number of other activities. 31 year old Ryan Boonstra has been identified as the man who lost his life while working for a company that was installing tile in a field last Friday near Raymond. The accident happened near 60th street and 150th avenue SW. The call came in to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office around 11:45 am last Friday. Boonstra reportedly was pinned between heavy equipment.

Ridgewater College will host a free, interactive program called “You, Me, We”, addressing racism, sexism and sexual orientation phobias’ today in Hutchinson at 11 am and Thursday  in Willmar beginning at 11 am at the college and again at 6 pm at the high school auditorium. The program is a 90 minute high impact training for students, community  members and Ridgewater employees. Contact Ridgewater College for more information.
