The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department received 4 calls yesterday of ATVs and fish houses going through the ice. An ATV broke through on Lake Lilian just before 4 pm yesterday. Fish houses broke through on Foot Lake in Willmar and Lake Wakanda south
of Willmar. And 65 year old Ron Dilley of rural Pennock broke through on the channel
between Norway and Games Lakes. Dilley stood on top of the fully submerged ATV to call for help. He was no injured. Warm weather of late has made ice conditions very inconsistent.
The Kandiyohi County Historical Society has announced the West Central Minnesota Baseball Hall of Fame class of 2019. Inductees include Brad Skoglund of Paynesville, who grew up in Willmar, a long time player and coach. He is in the Minnesota State High School
Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. Howard Peterson of Willmar, a longtime local player who also played at the U of M and for the U.S. Navy team. Ellsworth Klemmetson, a Willmar grad, a coach for over 55 years for youth baseball and also Willmar Community College. And, Robert Donner of Clara City, a high school and town baseball player, who also played for the Minneapolis Millers, and became a ump after his playing days. District 128 state representative Paul Anderson of Starbuck has accepted an appointment to serve as the lead Republican on a House Committee related to jobs and economic issues in greater Minnesota. The committee is called the Greater Minnesota Jobs and Economic Finance Division.Anderson says topics that need to be addressed include better health care,
broadband internet and the workforce and workforce housing shortages.
