Willmar Police responded to 2 burglary alarms early this past Monday morning. The first at 2:45 am in the 1600 block of first South First Street there was a broken glass door, and items taken. The second alarm, moments later in the 700 block of South First Street, where the burglary was in progress. The suspect ran off but was captured about 15 minutes later. A 14 year old boy from Willmar was arrested for both break-ins and is being
held at the Prairie Lakes Detention Center on burglary charges, burglary tool possession, criminal damage to property and fleeing police on foot.
Police in Alexandria arrested 34 year old Robert Lee of Alexandria after he was found in a building at 251 Sunset Way NE last Saturday morning around 10 am. A person saw that the building had external damage and windows broken and called police, concerned that someone may be inside. Officers found Lee hiding in the building. He’s being held on burglary charges and the incident is being investigated.
The food and drug administration has announced a food recall issued by Inspired Organics LLC. 3 types of butters, including Organic almond, Peanut and Tahini butters may have potential contamination involving listeria. The product was distributed to retailers in a number of states including Minnesota and Wisconsin.
101 fatal work injuries were recorded in Minnesota last year, an increase from the 2016 total 92 and a total of 74 in 2015. Last year’s total is the most since 1993. Transportation accidents accounted for 46 deaths. Agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing accounted for 23. Retail trade 14, construction totaled 89 of the 101 killed on the job were men, with a total of 56 over the age of 55.
