A man was found dead in his car Christmas Eve West of Montevideo near Co. Rd. 18 & 411th Ave. The Lac Qui Parle Sheriff’s Office says the man was deceased when officers arrived. No foul play was suspected, and an autopsy is being done.
A man was arrested Sunday night around 6 pm after allegedly pointing a gun at a night at a La Qui Parle County officer and at himself. He was allegedly intoxicated, and a domestic assault had occurred. The suspect, from Montevideo, was taken into custody on potential charges of assault, domestic assault, and interfering with a 911 call.
An accident Wednesday morning injured 68 year old Bruce Roby of Tracy. He was headed east of Granite Falls on highway 212 when a pickup driven by 26 year old Mayra Gutierrez of Renville pulled out from the side of the road and hit the Roby vehicle. Roby was treated in Granite Falls for non-life threatening injuries.
70 year old Dave Lauritson of Milan was injured when he fell asleep while driving on state highway 40 east of Milan just before noon Wednesday. He was westbound when he went into the ditch and vaulted a driveway. Lauritson was treated in Montevideo for non-life threatening injuries.
Falling asleep while driving is never a good thing. Stearns County deputies were called out Christmas Eve around 11:45 pm to an accident on county road 52 near Avon. A woman fell asleep with 3 passengers in the car, two of them were kids. 33 year old Nicole Nieman and two kids, an 8 year old and a 5 month old were not hurt. 34 year old Eric Nieman suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The State Patrol responded to a car/snow plow accident last night around 6:30 in Becker County around 6:30. A man from Ohio, driving a car rear ended a snow plow driven by a man from Detroit Lakes. No other information was released. The State Patrol urges everyone to stay alert and give the snow plows plenty of room on the highways.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office got a call of a driving complaint on Christmas Day around 7:30 that night. A driver had been on the shoulder as well as speeding. A deputy found the vehicle, clocked it at over 90 miles per hour and tried to pull it over. The vehicle went in and out of traffic, turned off highway 12 east of Litchfield and through a person’s yard and through a field, then into a ditch along 12 where it crashed. The driver, 57 year old Tim Otis of Eagan was uncooperative but was taken into custody, arrested for suspicion of DUI, and fleeing police in a vehicle. Deputies also recovered a small amount of marijuana.
