A number of stolen items have been recovered in the Montevideo area after police issued search warrants on a home on 9th street south recently. A 2nd search warrant turned up meth and marijuana. Police recovered bikes, guns, power tools, a car and much more. 3 people  have been arrested on the drug charges. Another suspect was already being  held on stolen property charges.

Monday night the Willmar city council approved a tax increment financing district for an apartment housing complex to be built on county road 5 on the west side of Willmar. The 4 building, 72 apartment complex will have 80 of the units for rent at market rate. The first building will hopefully be done by mid 2020.

The Willmar City council’s winter retreat will be held at Bremer Banks conference room Friday & Saturday. The public meetings will include talks about local option sales tax projects, upcoming street and storm water work, a new city hall, internal communication methods and other topics. The meeting Friday will be from 3-7pm and Saturday’s session from 9 until noon.


A second man is facing prison after being sentenced in connection with the kidnapping of a 15 year old Jasmine Block. 31 year old Joshua Holby of Carlos was sentenced to just over seven years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of kidnapping. Block was kidnapped and held captive for 29 days in August of 2017.

Fire departments from Carlos and Alexandria were called out around 2 am Tuesday to the Dale Kittleson home at 2510 Sandhill Lane Northeast yesterday. A chimney had caught fire. The fire was contained to one area of the home and there was extensive smoke, fire and water damage. Kittleson was able to get out ok.


The Minnesota Dept. of Transportation is looking to partner with more landowners to install snow fences in open areas along state highways.If interested, call 218·846·7943. Landowners may receive negotiated compensation through the state buying or leasing the land. MnDOT says that snow fences have proven to be effective in helping to keep roads cleaner during snow and blowing snow storms. The fences include structural, living-meaning trees and shrubs, and vegetative, like corn rows or hay bales. Contact MnDOT if interested in the program.

The next Central Community Transit Joint Powers Board meeting will be Friday morning at nine in the meeting room at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia. On the agenda, a 5 year plan and volunteer driver program update, operations & personnel policies and the labor contract, along with staffing and ridership. Meeting time Friday is 9 am in Olivia.
