State Senator Torrey Westrom of Elbow Lake and State Representative Paul Anderson of Starbuck are hosting town hall meetings today. They will be in Albany at the city hall this morning at 9:15. In Melrose at the Town Hall at 10:30 am. In Sauk Centre at the town hall at 11:45, and at the Pizza Ranch in Glenwood this afternoon a 2 pm. You’re invited to stop by and discuss the issues.
This past Monday the Minnesota Senate passed legislation that fixes a small technical glitch in the 2018 bonding bill that could have delayed area public works projects. The bill passed with wide bipartisan support and was signed into law on Tuesday morning by the governor. Says local Senator Andrew Lang of Olivia says the law ensures that vital projects in our area can be completed.
The Litchfield Wetland Management District of the U.S. fish & Wildlife Service will host “Habitat Day 2019” Saturday April 6th from noon to 4 pm in Litchfield. There’ll be a variety of offerings for all ages who are interested in wildlife and habitat locally. The free event includes the Raptor Center through the U of M. featuring a variety of birds. Free pre-cut bird house kits, one per family to be assembled on site. Also coloring books, posters and an assortment of related materials and much more to see. The event in Litchfield will be held April 6th at the Wetland Management district site 3 miles south of Litchfield.
The West Central Research and Outreach Center in Morris at the U of M is looking to hire summer students. The center is looking for several students from mid to late May through the end of August or early September.
