Something to think about next time you cannonball into the swimming pool—- the centers for disease control, the Water Quality Health Council and the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance did a survey and found out that 51% of Americans say they use a swimming pool as a communal bathtub, either as a substitute for showering, or to rinse off after exercise or yardwork. And 64% of Americans say they know that pool chemicals, aka chlorine,
dissipate when people loaded with dirt, sweat, and personal care products use the pool instead of showering first. And to top it off, respondents to the survey, 40% of them, say they use the pool as a toilet, with urine reducing the amount of chlorine available to kill
germs. Happy Swimming!
