Sheriff’s Deputies from Lac Qui Parle, Chippewa and Swift counties, along with other rescue personnel were called to Lac Qui Parle Lake around 3:40 pm yesterday afternoon after someone reported there was an empty boat on the water. It was about a mile south of the Milan Bridge, and still had a life jacket in it. Later, a shoe and hat were found in the water, then a body was found in the Dahlen’s Bay area near shore. The person was pronounced dead at the scene and was found to be the only occupant of the boat. The investigation continues.
It seems that when the weather warms up, vandals come out. Willmar Police and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s department report a number of vehicles being damaged, mostly windows being broken out. And at the Nest Lake Boat access on highway 23 north of Spicer, windows were broken and a door vandalized on a vehicle. Willmar Police also report one vehicle being reported stolen, as well as a house broken into and burglarized while the homeowners were asleep.
Litchfield police arrested a 32 year old Yankton, South Dakota man on a number of charges Tuesday including 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of ammunition, a pending DUI and a warrant from South Dakota. The arrest happened at a North Sibley Business address in Litchfield Tuesday morning just after midnight.
The Minnesota Public facilities Authority recently approved $17.93 million dollars in loan and grant funding for water infrastructure project in Minnesota for the towns of Faribault, Winnebago, Arden Hills and Sacred Heart. The Sacred Heart totaled $1,619,782 dollars for rehabilitation of the town’s wastewater treatment plant. The money is in the form of 3 grants, and a USDA rural Development Loan for $182,908 dollars.
Stearns County authorities are reporting mailbox vandalism in the Eden Valley area. Over 30 were ruined Monday night and more have been reported since. Citizens reported a loud truck in the area when the vandalism occurred. Anyone with info, or to report damage, should contact the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

The Target Center in Minneapolis ranks 14th on the latest list of stadiums with the most expensive food. The arena tied for 5th on the most expensive beer list, $10.00. And tied for 5th with $6.00 soft drinks. The Target Center rated well when it comes to varieties of food, including gluten free items. Meanwhile, Memorial Week-end at Target Field for the Twins game had some people grumbling of long lines, some warm beer and food shortages as the game last Sunday was sold out. That, along with nice weather and being a holiday week-end made for a busy ball park. Twins officials are looking at their bag policy to see if they can speed up people getting through the gates and into the game.
