The Kandiyohi Co. Sheriff’s office was called to the Green Lake Bible camp after it was reported that the camps faith bus was vandalized on June 14th in the parking lot. The bus was spray painted and the inside damaged by a fire extinguisher that was discharged. An enclosed trailer was also vandalized.

21 year old Ken Roundtree of Morton was sentenced to 3 years and two months in prison for his part in the robbery and threats that were made to a man from Montevideo. Roundtree pleaded guilty to a felony charges with other charges dismissed. His partner in the crime, Jawaanza Jones of St. Cloud was sentenced last week for his part in the crime.

The Kandiyohi Co. Sheriff’s Office reports that a number of vehicles have been broken into around Norway Lake. Valuables were stolen, including keys, checkbooks, tools and other items. Police remind you to lock your vehicles and leave nothing valuable inside.

Willmar Police were called to the construction area on 19th avenue and 30th St. SW. Workers reported people driving around barriers and onto people’s lawns to get through a closed off work zone.

28 year old Sreenath Mummadi of Los Angeles was hurt in a crash on highway 67 west of Clarkfield Tuesday night around 8:20 pm. His pickup crossed the center line and went into the ditch, then back up on the road and into the opposite ditch where it rolled. He was taken to the Granite Falls Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It may have seemed like an old west roundup in the Willmar and New London areas earlier this week as police and deputies were busy getting horses & donkeys back where they belong. Monday a horse was loose on 45th Av. SW in Willmar. Tuesday morning a couple donkeys in a parking lot on highway 12 east had to be corralled, and in New London on 4th Av. SW Tuesday over the noon hour a couple of horse were spotted on the loose.

The Minnesota Dept. of Agriculture is rolling out its new Dairy Assistance, Investment and Relief Initiative program to provide financial help for dairy producers who enroll for 5 years of coverage in the USDA Farm Service Agency’s Dairy Margin Coverage Program. The Kandiyohi Co. Board of Commissioners on Tuesday took action to help fund a study that will again look at getting broadband to homes and businesses in 3 townships. They include St. Johns, Mamre and Dovre. The commissioners will again be hoping for grant money from the Mn. Dept. of Employment and Economic Developments border to border program. The study will cost almost $19,000.00 and take about a month to complete. The townships have yet to decide if they’ll participate in helping fund the study, which would be 25 % of the total each.

Willmar Fests activities got underway yesterday around town, and Ken and Ardys Newburg were crowned Willmar Fests Senior Ambassadors. The coronation took place at the community Center in Willmar. The downtown Block Party begins at 4:15 this afternoon and runs until 9 tonight with a number of fun events and activities for everyone.
