55 year old Earl York of Kimball was arrested for robbing a convenience store in St. Augusta. A store employee had spotted York crouched behind a counter taking money from the register. York acted as though he had a gun, then ran off. Video showed York taking money and a bottle of liquor, and it showed him getting into a vehicle police were able to trace to a business off highway 15 north of Kimball. York barricaded himself into a room at the business and deputies eventually forced their way in and had to tase him. The stolen money was found on York when he was booked into jail.

Deveaon Bady Jr., 29, of Atwater, was in district court in Willmar yesterday and sentenced to 26 months in prison in a verbal and physical assault case. A woman reported the incident in July of last year. Bady has convictions from 2011 and 2014 related to domestic abuse as well.

The Minnesota DNR reminds artists that work can be submitted July 15 th through July 26th for the contests that will decide what images will be featured in 2020 on the Minnesota Walleye stamp and the Minnesota trout & salmon stamp. Rule changes this year allow artists to use non-photographic digital media. Artists have to submit a list of all media used in the creation of the entry. Final judging will be August 1 st at the DNR Central Office in St. Paul.

Anhydrous tanks are usually pulled behind a tractor, but recently in Morris at the University, a John Deere 6400 pulling a chisel plow had a white tank on its front, and it was helping power the tractor. A mix of 30% ammonia and 70% diesel fuel was used in the engine. The tank with the ammonia had extra pipes control boxes attached. Researchers hope this will eventually become a cost effective option for farmers.

The RCW School and work session meeting will be held tonight at 8 pm at the small gym in Renville. Along with a building progress update, there’ll be discussion of the student handbook, passes for activities, staffing and retreat dates. A number of bids will be looked at including dairy, food, bakery and fuel. There’ll be a closed session for a superintendent evaluation as well.

Explore Minnesota has announced the location of its “Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference”, and for the first time it will be held in Alexandria. Events, including general sessions, the travel marketplace and breakout sessions will take place at the Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center from February 24th through 26th next year.
