61 year old Paul Woods of Franklin was injured when he hit a deer on hit while headed west on highway 19. The accident happened around 5:30 yesterday morning. He was treated for injuries at the hospital in Marshall.

A crash on Wednesday around 12:45 pm on highway 71 north of Elrosa injured 3 people. 86 year old Wallace Bastian of New Ulm drifted over the centerline and hit a pickup driven by 52 year old Dan Zins of Litchfield. Zins was treated for injuries in Willmar, while Bastian and a passenger were treated in St. Cloud.

Firemen from Miltona, Carlos and Parkers Prairie were called to a fire on County Road 65 NE near Miltona around 1 am this morning. A machine shed owned by 57 Brian Hoppe sustained substantial damage, as did several pieces of farm equipment and other items in the shed. The fire is being investigated.

The State Patrol reported a rear end accident Wednesday around 3:45 pm on highway 59 near Pelican Rapids. A pickup driven by Alan Thomas, 43, of Fargo, hit a car driven by 71 year old John Eidsness of Pelican Rapids. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Thomas was not hurt.

A 21 mile stretch of State Highway 4 between Paynesville and Interstate 94 will be closed beginning Monday for reconstruction work. The road is expected to be closed until October as reconstruction takes place. Detours will be set up. There will be local access to homes and businesses. Part of Highway 55 west of Paynesville will be closed for bridge work with a detour set up. The highway will be closed until sometime in August.

Outflow from the Lac Qui Parle Reservoir upstream from Montevideo raising levels slowly on the Minnesota River. Recent heavy rain has caused the reservoir levels to rise. The army corps of engineers is working with the national weather service to monitor river levels at Montevideo and downstream from there.

This past Monday night shortly after 11 pm, Litchfield Police arrested a 36 year old man for domestic assault by strangulation. The incident happened at a North Armstrong Avenue address. The man is being held in the Meeker County Jail.

13 year old Hannah Graves, a student at Central Minnesota Christian School of Prinsburg, placed 24th out of over 600,000 in a worldwide Lions Club international Foundation sponsored Pease Poster Contest. Willmar Noon Lions member Terry Smith has been involved with the poster program locally since 2005, and said they’ve had posters that did well at a district level, but never this high worldwide. Hannah Grave and her parents will be at the July 17th Noon Lions meeting at the Historical Society in Willmar where she’ll become an honorary member, her artwork framed and will receive prize money from the Noon Lions & Lions Club International.
