A number of 911 calls came in to the Yellow Medicine Co. Sheriff’s Office around noon yesterday concerning an RCW school bus on highway 212 that was driving on the wrong side of the road, hitting vehicles and not stopping. Granite Falls Police and County deputies found the bus and got it slowed up enough for a person to get inside and put the bus into park. The driver had suffered a medical emergency and was taken to the Granite Falls Hospital. 3 vehicles, along with a sheriff’s deputy squad car were damaged. There were no other injuries.

Willmar Police reported a possible burglary. The call came in around 12:30 am Wednesday from the 500 block of 16th St. SW. A person coming home found their door open and a number of items missing. Police are investigating.

28 year old Coda Johnson of Sartell and 32 year old Craig Rapp of St. Cloud are being charged with 4 felonies for a theft last year at a home in Green Lake Township. The two are accused of stealing around $40 grand in items from the home. Home surveillance video along with alleged recorded jail conversations aided police in charging the two. There was also an unidentifiable 3 rd man in the video from the home. Johnson is currently at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for burglaries in Sherburne and Stearns Counties. Rapp is out on his own recognizance with conditions.

Tuesday afternoon shortly after 1 pm the C-6 Drug and Gang Task Force and the Swift County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search at a home in the 1300 block of Atlantic Avenue in Kerkhoven. Meth, marijuana, surveillance cameras and other items were found. A 39 year old woman was arrested, and there are charges pending against a 34 year old man who was not there during the search.

45 year old Peggy Jo Uhlenkamp, a former day care provider in Olivia agreed to a plea deal in Renville Co. district court. She was facing gross misdemeanor charges on failing to report child abuse and neglect for knowingly allowing it to continue. Her teenage son Trent was accused of molesting the kids. He was found incompetent to stand trial. Sentencing for Peggy Uhlenkamp will be September 3 rd .

A 29 year old Darwin man was arrested in Litchfield on Tuesday night around 10:15. Charges include 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The suspect was taken to the Meeker County jail.

Last week during the Midwest Farm Energy Conference, Morris Senator Torrey Westrom was presented with a Lifetime Leadership and Service Award. The award was given in recognition off his vision for renewable energy research and support he has provided as a founding member of the U of M Morris’ West Central Research and Outreach Center’s Renewable Energy Program. In over 18 years, Westrom, as both a Representative and a Senator, has helped get over $10 million of funding for renewable Energy research in Morris. That $10 million has helped to bring in around another ten million from other funding sources.
