Opponents of Enbridge’s Line Three oil pipeline are urging state officials to stop it from being built.  More than 700 people gathered in Duluth over the weekend at a rally.  Opponents of the controversial oil pipeline across Minnesota say it raises the risk of a catastrophic oil spill and will contribute to climate change.

Authorities say a missing Indiana man’s truck has been found in Two Harbors.  James Runkle of North Judson, Indiana has been missing since September 20th.  The truck was found Sunday near a public access site along Lake Superior.  A kayak that was seen on surveillance video in the bed of the truck was not found in the truck.  Police are still searching for the 56-year-old.

Hennepin County is working to ensure that hard-to-count areas and communities are totaled in the 2020 census.  Officials are also trying to get rid of obstacles that may discourage residents from filling out the census form.  No specific goal has been set for next year’s census because it will be the first census done electronically.

Hundreds of Catholic faithful are mourning after retired Archbishop Harry Flynn was laid to rest.  A funeral mass was held yesterday for Flynn at the Cathedral of St. Paul.  He led the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis from 1995 until he retired in 2008.  Flynn died September 22nd at age 86.

Five people are injured after a brazen daytime carjacking in south Minneapolis.  The vehicle crashed into a vehicle and bakery, rammed a squad car and hit two teenage girls before hitting a streetlight and bursting into flames.  The driver was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment.  The teen girls were critically injured.

The police union in Minneapolis is seeing partisanship in a new ban on uniformed cops backing candidates.  President of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis Lieutenant Robert Kroll said yesterday that he was given the news Friday.  The ban came just one day after President Trump announced an October 10th rally at Target Center.  Mayor Jacob Frey had also put out a statement that Trump is unwelcome in the city.  Kroll says members of the union are outraged and see it as biased against Trump supporters.

The National Weather Service is calling the heavy rains that fell yesterday in northeast Minnesota a 200-year event.  Three to five inches fell across parts of northern Pine, southern Carlton, and Douglas counties.  The Snake and Kettle rivers could see delayed flooding.

The chairman of the public oversight at U.S. Bank Stadium is receiving a 60-percent pay raise.  The Minnesota Sports facilities Authority board unanimously voted yesterday to approve the increase for Michael Vekich.  The raise brings his salary to 95-thousand dollars a year.

One man is dead after a boat capsized in Lake Superior.  Donald Carter was operating a 21-foot boat yesterday when the engine was overcome with water and the boat flipped.  Carter was found washed ashore in shallow waters off the end of Park Point, near Sky Harbor Airport.  Two others on board were able to swim to shore and called 911.

Recent mid-summer temperatures in the Twin Cities will not last long.  The National Weather Service says the high today will only reach 61 degrees.  Along with the cool temps, rain is expected on and off throughout the day.  The rest of the week will be similar, as temperatures will struggle to get out of the 50s.

Two teens are in critical condition after they were struck by a car on a Minneapolis street corner.  The incident happened yesterday afternoon near 17th Avenue South and East 26th Street.  Police believe the driver of the car that went out of control was impaired and was in a stolen vehicle.  Surveillance video shows the victims walking down Lake Street then shows the SUV hitting the teens.

An alleged St. Paul gang member accused of gunning down a rival in early September.  Michael Garland was recently charged with second-degree intentional murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Kacy Feiner.  The 19-year-old defendant appeared in court yesterday and remains behind bars.  Prosecutors say Garland forced Feiner to the ground during their confrontation and shot him at close range.
