Kandiyohi County Attorney Shane Baker met Thursday with a group of neighbors in southwest Willmar who want to declare a house on their block a “public nuisance.” The neighbors recently put up an online petition in support of the declaration because of criminal activity over an extended period. They got 477 people to sign the petition.
Police recently revealed that some 6 search warrants and 40 arrests had been made at the property since 2013. The house is located a block away from Garfield Park and the Willmar Area Learning Center and weapons, ammo and drugs have all been seized from it. In addition, a convicted Level 3 sex offender lives there. One of the petition organizers claimed that drug activity is still going on at the property. The neighbors are hoping to see the home’s residents evicted.
