Chippewa County received CARES Act funding from the federal government through allocations made by Governor Walz. The county allocated a portion of the funds to reimburse businesses with COVID related expenses. These grants are designed to provide immediate relief to businesses to help them remain in operation through the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses will be able to request up to $5,000 in COVID related expenses using the eligibility guidelines found on the county website. There will be two rounds of applications:
ROUND 1: Applications will be accepted beginning at 8 am on September 16,
2020 and close at 4 pm on October 15, 2020
ROUND 2: Applications will be accepted beginning at 8 am on October 16, 2020
and close at 4 pm on November 15, 2020
Eligible applicants include:
• Businesses with a physical location, whether owned or leased, in Chippewa County
• Businesses that were in operation as of March 1, 2020.
• Businesses that are current on property taxes prior to May 15, 2020.
Businesses that have applied for or have applications pending in any COVID-related state or federal or local funding may apply but they cannot seek reimbursement for the same
expenses through this application. COVID related programs may include but are not limited to the Small Business Administration (SBA); Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL); or Paycheck Protection Program (PPP); or State of MN DEED grant or loan program.
Applications and supporting documentation of expenses must be submitted online through
the Chippewa County website. All eligible applications will be considered for funding until the county’s grant funds are depleted.
Chippewa County reserves the right to modify the rules and process for this grant program at any time and the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners retain final authority to determine if an applicant is eligible or not, whether to approve a grant or not and the amount of the grant award.
