COSMOS — 41-year old Brice Ray Barrick of Dassel was injured after a two-vehicle crash involving alcohol early yesterday evening just south south of Cosmos. According to the police report, Barrick, was traveling eastbound in a 2010 Chevrolet pickup on Renville County Road 11 in Brookfield Township when his vehicle collided with a 2005 GMC pickup truck traveling southbound on state Highway 4. Alcohol is listed as a factor in the State Patrol’s report for Barrick. Barrick suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Hutchinson Health Hospital emergency room. The driver of the GMC pickup, 21-year old Cole Michael Sander, of Bird Island, did not have any injuries reported. Both drivers were reportedly wearing their seat belts. Barrick’s airbag deployed while Sander’s did not. Road conditions were dry. The Hector Police Department, Hector Ambulance and the Renville County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the incident reported at shortly after 6p.m. last night.
